Any nicknames? A few from family and related to online handles, but the one most used is Jess.
What do you do for a living?
I create awesome web designs and then turn them into working web pages, emails and Facebook graphics and apps. I also integrate content management systems into websites, and get creative with print work.
What’s your day job?
I most recently worked as a web developer for Medscape/WebMD. I have worked as a content management specialist for Canon USA, a digital marketing specialist for Red Apple Group and Tele-Verse Communications, a web developer for Health Care Compliance Strategies, a Healthstream company, a web producer at The EGC Group, a web developer at Klick Kitchen and a graphic designer Student Management Group. I also did technical support for Nortel Networks and Information Builders. Plus, I spent my college internship at the Riverhead County Jail as part of internal security creating websites for their intranet. I can’t say much more about that last one, though, due to security clearance.
How has Social Media impacted traditional media?
Social Media offers a stronger word-of-mouth route to marketing. It gives the consumer a real voice and a real impact. Companies need to be involved in social to make sure they can quickly respond to customers and their comments.
Any partners, spouses or pets you want to mention?
Just my cat, Loki. He was named for the trickster Norse god, but inspired a bit by the Marvel character.
What do you do for fun?
I have a lot of eclectic hobbies. I write, read, draw, dance, sing, and act in a theater group. I’m also into all kinds of games, and I’m a bit of a fandom geek. I’ve been trying to study Spanish and Japanese in my spare time, and I love photography. In the warm weather, I like to swim and bike.
What is the most surprising fact about you?
I ride a motorcycle. I started riding in 2005 and absolutely love it. I even have my license and my own bike (in my favorite color, purple).
What is your favorite quote?
“What lies behind you and what lies before you are tiny matters compared to what lies within you.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
